The thought manifests as the word; The word manifests as the deed; The deed develops into habit; And habit hardens into character; So watch the thought and its ways with care, And let it spring from love Born out of concern for all beings. ... As the shadow follows the body, as we think, so we become. - From the Dhammapada (Sayings of the Buddha)

Meditation Course

After a great deal of reading, looking, research, and questioning I have found a vipassana meditation course in Calgary. The Yoga & Meditation Community Center of Marda Loop offers a Vipassana meditation course taught by the centers director and guiding teacher Barbara Ross. Barbara has been practicing Vipassana Meditation for over 25 years. You can see her full bio here.

The Yoga & Meditation Community Center of Marda Loop store also sells all the accessories you could need to assist in your practice including Zabuton Mats, Cedar meditation stools, and Zafus.

I am looking forward to starting my course in late September and learning from the wisdom of Barbara.

Contemplation on Meditation

Well, after much reading and research it appears meditation is the first skill one needs to begin working on. So far there appears to be two primary techniques, Vipassana (also called Insight) and Metta (also called Loving-Kindness).
After experimenting with both it has become apparent that the practise is not as simple as it first appears (then nothing really is what it appears, is it?).
So off to try and find a course to aid in this regard. Watch for the outcome of that adventure here in the near future.
May all beings have Peace, Love, Safety, and Success.

What’s this all about?

Well, that’s what needs to be discovered. Hopefully reflecting on this blog will answer some of the deeper questions with the help of Dharma discussion and expression amongst other seekers.
